change tomorrow 2014: a day full of inspiration

For the second year in a row, i.deeds organised 'Change Tomorrow', an inspiring top event. On Thursday 5th June 2014,  in the unique space of the Ghelamco Arena in Ghent, Belgium, business leaders, financial managers and IT heads could find inspiration for the future of their companies. A total of 240 attendees were present on this exciting day.

We welcomed Philippe Rogge (CEO Microsoft Belux), Bart Windal (Vice President Software IBM Benelux) and Edward Boute (Head of Google Enterptise Belux) as the keynote speakers. With their smooth, entertaining presentations, these captains of industry explored entrepreneurship in a changing world and how you can best prepare your organisation for the challenges of tomorrow.

Earlier in the afternoon, more than one hundred IT managers listened to IBM and Microsoft describing their vision for the future of the fields of software development, business intelligence and performance management. These instructive explanations were strenghtened by recent customer cases that i.deeds handled. Those present were given the choice of a Microsoft or an IBM track.

IBM-track

During the first section of the IBM track, Herman Nielens, Business Analytics Specialty Architect, discussed how Business Analytics can add value to your business today and in the future. He did this based on a detailed presentation from the IBM Watson Group, a new business unit that is fully dedicated to developing and commercialising cognitive and innovative solutions. His audience was also introduced to a few innovations that will be launched shortly, such as IBM SPSS Catalyst, Watson Analytics and IBM Cognos Mobile.

After the break, Bart Alluyn, BI Consultant at i.deeds, spoke about the case that i.deeds implemented for the Beaulieu International Group using IBM solutions. He explained in detail how i.deeds put in place an optimum structure, an entire consolidation, beautiful visualisation, a faster and more detailed reporting system, and many options for data enrichment thanks to a corporate data warehouse that performs well. From now on, the Beaulieu International Group will have its communication and data quality completely under control.

After that, it was Project Leader - Analyst Frederiek Demyttenaere's turn to take the floor. He elaborated on the implementation of the procedure, and explained how the whole sales structure of the Beaulieu International Group was seamlessly integrated into the new corporate data warehouse.

Microsoft-track

Those who opted for the Microsoft track were also in for some interesting presentations. First Microsoft themselves did the talking. Ritchie Houtmeyers, Microsoft Application Platform Product & Solutions Managers, explored the processing of big data to gain better insights using SQL Server 2014. The demo of Power BI for Office 365 was also received enthusiastically.

After the break, it was time to put theory back into practice. Kurt Petteloot, Analyst - Designer at i.deeds presented an interesting case about the WEEE Forum, which was discussed at length in the previous edition of this magazine. He demonstrated how i.deeds handled the reporting at the WEEE Forum of the 40 affiliated organisations in 21 EU Member States in a standardised, user-friendly way, using Microsoft solutions. In conclusion, Steve Decroubele, Project Leader - Analyst at i.deeds, discussed how i.deeds handled hospital procedures more smoothly and efficiently, and brought all the information to the correct level using Microsoft BI and embedded analytics.

i.deeds would like to thank everyone who helped make Change Tomorrow 2014 an unforgettable and inspiring event.
